STEP 3: What have I learnt?
The evaluator should write down the answer and then he can see the explanation in the menu!
1. Why is it important to match the governmental goals and the refugees’ goals?
Matching governments’ migration politics and refugees’ goals is crucial to make the integration process effective and guarantee the full protection of human rights. With full integration that leads to labour market entry, newcomers can achieve economic independence and contribute to national growth. To create the conditions for doing so, the host country has to offer, especially for young refugees, a concrete, effective and stimulating training process that values their competencies, hopes and future projects.
2. What is the role of VET training in the matching of the governmental goals and the refugees’ goals?
VET training can guarantee a quick entrance in the labour market and boost the integration process. From VET managers point of view, it is important to consider the local labour market in order to set up training course that can match the request of the local enterprises and therefore help refugee students to find a job.
3. What are possible strategies?
VET managers have to analyse the local labour market requests before the planning of a new training course. Moreover, they must provide for internships that can stimulate the acquisition of job competencies to enhance the chance of entrance into the labour market. To do so, cooperation with local enterprises is crucial. Another good practice is to provide job orientation at the end of the course, in collaboration with local job agencies.
