Explanation of the quality indicator "Measurement of the attainment of learning objectives"
The purpose of assessing students’ attainment of learning objectives is to certify qualifications that provide access to skilled employment. When learning objectives are standardised (national or EQF standards), they can more easily be recognised in national and international labour markets. To ensure the quality of assessment, an external examiner can be involved. Another purpose of assessment is to support students’ learning process by testing their educational progress. When students are encouraged to assess their own attainment, they can become better self-directed learners.
